Nigeria: The Muslim Keke Driver Who Returned Half a Million Naira
It has been reported that the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III has celebrated and appreciated the honesty of a Muslim Keke Napep driver in Jos after he returned over half a million Naira left behind by his passenger.
The driver, Bashir, returned the money to the passenger, Mama Ejima, on the 20th November, 2017 according to a report. The Sultan has reportedly honored the driver with a new tricycle, refrigerator, grinding machine and N70, 000.
Muslims have been instructed by Allah(God) The Most High to shun from being dishonest, stealing or bribery. God says:
“And do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful].”
